ODARS taking part in Marconi Day at the History of Science Museum, Oxford, April 2022.

Oxford & District Amateur Radio Society (ODARS) is a group of amateur radio enthusiasts, we meet twice monthly at a private social club about one and a half miles from Oxford City centre, If you are a visiting amateur or short wave listener, or just have an interest in learning more about this interesting hobby, you will be made most welcome at our meetings.  Our society was formed in 1923 with the first officers being the President Mr W.F. Beesley, Hon Treasurer Mr J. Piggot G2WA, and Hon Secretary Mr V. T. Terner.

The majority of our members are licensed amateurs, meetings provide the opportunity to interact socially and to exchange ideas and information over a drink in a pleasant environment.   Usually we try to arrange a special evening where a club member or visitor will give a talk/presentation on a topic of interest to members.

During the year we organise social events, and twice a year we take part in competitions that require us to operate a radio station for 24 hours, in the field, under canvas.

ODARS 2m net: 13:30 local time weekdays on 145.350 MHz FM.

Club Meetings

From October 2022 the ODARS club meeting will take place at:

St. Clements Centre
Cross St.
Oxford OX4 1DA

We meet at 7.30 on the first THURSDAY of the month.

Getting to the St. Clements Centre:

Public transport. There are several buses from the city centre in the direction of Headington and the hospitals which pass the centre. Check the Oxford Bus Company website for full details.

Bicycle. There is a Sheffield Toast Rack bike stand in the car park.

On foot. The centre is a 15 minute walk from the city centre.

Car. There is a large car park. Note, if coming into Cross Street from Morrell Avenue it is the second car park entrance on the right.
